Women's Boxing Accessories

Women's boxing accessories are the essentials that go into the bag alongside your gloves: hand wraps that fit a narrower hand, a gum shield that moulds properly, a speed rope for conditioning and the small extras that make a session run smoothly. We have gathered 77 of them here from Adidas, Opro, SafeJawz, Pro Box, Fly, Ringside and Everlast, with prices from £1, so whether you are starting boxfit classes or preparing for an amateur bout, everything is in one place.

Wraps, gum shields and ropes: the core three

Hand wraps come first. For most women a 2.5m or 3.5m wrap gives full knuckle and wrist coverage without the excess bulk of a 4.5m roll, though the Adidas ABA approved 4.5m wraps are the competition standard if you box on shows. Pro Box stretch wraps are the easiest to apply on your own. A gum shield from Opro or SafeJawz is compulsory for sparring and competition; the self-fit models give a far closer fit than a basic boil-and-bite. A speed rope from Fly or our own Boxfit nylon rope builds the rhythm and calf endurance that footwork depends on. Each has its own page: women's boxing hand wraps, women's mouth guards and women's skipping ropes.

Getting the fit right

Wraps are one-size, but the length you choose changes how much padding you end up with over the knuckles, and too long a wrap will not fit inside a smaller glove. Gum shields come in junior and senior sizes; most adult women take the senior. Skipping ropes should be cut so the handles reach your armpits when you stand on the centre of the rope. If you are also choosing gloves, our women's boxing gloves are cut for narrower hands, and women's boxing protection covers chest guards and head guards designed for the female frame.

Frequently asked questions

What length hand wraps should a woman use?

Try 2.5m or 3.5m for training if you have small to medium hands, and 4.5m if you prefer more knuckle padding or you compete, as the longer ABA approved wraps are the competition standard. Elasticated wraps are easier to apply solo than traditional cotton.

Do women need different boxing accessories to men?

Wraps, gum shields and ropes are unisex and chosen by hand size, age band and height rather than gender. Where fit matters, such as gloves, chest protectors and boots, women's models are cut differently, and those are listed in our dedicated women's collections.

What accessories do I need for a boxfit or boxercise class?

Hand wraps and a pair of gloves are all most classes require. Add a skipping rope for warm-ups and a water bottle, and if the class includes partner pad work with any contact, a gum shield is a sensible extra.
