Kids Boxing Accessories
Kids boxing accessories are the small items a junior boxer needs in the bag before the first proper session: a gum shield that fits, hand wraps in a length that suits short arms and a skipping rope to build footwork. This range brings together 53 of them from Opro, SafeJawz, Adidas, Pro Box, Carbon Claw and Tuf Wear, with prices from £1, so you can finish off a child's kit without ordering from three different shops.
Which kids boxing accessories does a junior actually need?
Most clubs ask for three things on day one. A junior gum shield (sized for age 10 and under, with senior sizes from 11) from Opro or SafeJawz, including easy self-fit models and Marvel designs children want to wear. Hand wraps of 2.5m, which is the right length for small hands; the Adidas 2.5m wraps and Pro Box stretch wraps are club staples and the ABA approved versions are competition-ready. And a skipping rope cut short enough for their height. Everything else, from groin guards to head guards, comes later as they progress into sparring. Gloves are listed separately in kids boxing gloves and protective kit in kids boxing protection.
Fitting a gum shield for a child
Buy the junior size, follow the boil-and-bite instructions on the pack and have the child bite down and suck the guard onto the upper teeth while it is warm. Refit it whenever a tooth comes through or drops out, which for a seven to eleven year old can be every few months, and replace it once it is loose or chewed. Children with braces need a braces-specific guard. The full junior selection is in kids boxing mouth guards.

Frequently asked questions
What size hand wraps does a child need?
2.5m wraps suit most children up to around age twelve; they cover the knuckles and wrist without leaving a bulky bundle that will not fit inside a small glove. Older or larger juniors can move up to 3.5m or 4.5m. Elasticated wraps are easier for a child to put on alone.
Does my child need a gum shield for boxing training?
Yes, from the first session where there is any contact, and most clubs require one before a child is allowed to spar. A properly fitted junior gum shield protects teeth and lips and is compulsory in amateur competition. Avoid red guards, which are not allowed in bouts.
Are these accessories suitable for girls as well as boys?
Yes. Gum shields, hand wraps and skipping ropes are unisex and sized by age and hand size, not gender. Colour choice is the only difference, and both Opro and SafeJawz offer plenty of options.
