Boxing Hand Wraps
Boxing hand wraps protect the twenty-seven small bones in each hand and the wrist that holds them together, and you should never train without them. This range holds 68 wraps from Knuckle Sandwich, Pro Box, Adidas, Rival, Sting, Fortress, Cleto Reyes, Tuf Wear, Ringside, Fly and Reebok in lengths from 2.5m to 4.5m, from 99p a pair, in colours to match your gloves or your club.
Which boxing hand wraps do you need?
Elasticated (Mexican-style) wraps from Rival, Sting, Pro Box and Adidas stretch as you wind them, giving a firm, even wrap that follows the shape of your hand; they are the most popular choice for daily training. Traditional cotton wraps do not stretch and give a firmer, flatter feel some coaches prefer. Quick wraps and gel inners, such as the Fortress T1 Fastwraps, slip on like a fingerless glove for fitness classes and quick pad sessions; you will find more in gel and inner gloves. For competition, amateur boxers wrap with gauze and tape in the changing room, and we stock Empire Pro gauze and boxing hand tape for that.
Choosing the right length
4.5m is the adult standard and gives full coverage of knuckles, thumb and wrist with enough left over for extra knuckle padding. 3.5m suits smaller hands or anyone who finds 4.5m bulky inside a 10oz or 12oz glove. 2.5m is the junior length and the right choice for most children up to around twelve; see kids boxing hand wraps for those. The Adidas ABA approved wraps meet England Boxing requirements for competition and are what most clubs buy for their squad.
How to wrap your hands
Loop the thumb, go around the wrist three times, then across the back of the hand and through the fingers to build padding over the knuckles, back around the thumb, and finish with the final metres around the wrist before fastening the Velcro. Wrap firmly but not so tightly your fingers go numb. Wash wraps on a cool cycle inside a laundry bag so the Velcro does not snag, and roll them Velcro-inwards to store. Knuckle Sandwich wraps come in the widest choice of prints if you want to stand out.

Frequently asked questions
What length hand wraps should I buy?
Adults should start with 4.5m, which gives full coverage and spare length for knuckle padding. Choose 3.5m if you have small hands or find 4.5m too bulky inside your gloves, and 2.5m for children. When in doubt, go longer; you can always wind the excess around the wrist.
Are elasticated or cotton hand wraps better?
Elasticated wraps are easier to apply neatly, conform to the hand and are what most boxers use day to day. Cotton wraps feel firmer and flatter and suit those who like a rigid wrist. Both protect well when wrapped properly; the difference is preference, not safety.
Can I wear hand wraps in an amateur boxing bout?
England Boxing bouts use gauze and tape applied under supervision rather than reusable wraps, and the wrapping is checked before you glove up. ABA approved wraps are for training and skills bouts. Ask your coach what the show requires.
